All You Need to know about Profhilo in 2023

A new injectable, Profhilo, is now on the market in Australia. It is a bio-remodelling injectable that restores elasticity, hydrates, tightens and protects your skin. After receiving TGA approval, you can receive injections of Profhilo Sydney at Pure Aesthetics. Receive this unique treatment in their clinical environment when you want to restore your complexion.

What is Profhilo?

Profhilo treatment is a new category of anti-ageing injectables. It is a bio-remodelling filler and pure hyaluronic acid is its primary ingredient. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and fine lines and wrinkles appear, so you can use Profhilo for skin tightening to stimulate the stem cells.

Other fillers can change the shape of your face and some injectables relax the targeted muscles, Profhilo deeply hydrates your skin to help ageing skin.

Who is Profhilo suitable for?

Profhilo is suitable for people of all ages and for both sexes. But most people find hyaluronic acid begins depleting from the age of 30 onwards. So, the recommendation is to start having treatment when you start noticing signs of ageing.

Apart from the most common areas of the face and the neck, Profhilo is effective for treating crepey and loose skin on other areas of your body, including your hands, knees, chest and abdomen.

How does Profhilo work?

Profhilo is unlike other injectables. It provides a stable environment for the production of elastin and collagen in the superficial layers of your skin. This means it can maintain the integrity, firmness and volume of your skin where it needs it most. It is a good anti-ageing treatment when you want to hydrate your skin and target the texture, wrinkles and skin quality.

After two treatments, Profhilo stimulates the natural production of elastin which remodels the skin tissue so it is tighter and plumper and has a natural glow. It also tightens saggy skin because once injected, it spreads into other areas of your face or skin.

Difference between Profhilo and dermal fillers

There are quite a few differences between dermal fillers and Profhilo. It has the consistency of honey so it flows and spreads easily. This means our Dr Noela Ferch, our cosmetic physician, only needs to use minimal injection points to get the best results. You need no downtime to recover from the procedure. Also, Profhilo deeply hydrates your skin to improve its tone and elasticity, where dermal fillers fill in the areas that have lost volume.

Dermal fillers primarily target specific areas of your face but it is possible to use Profhilo on all areas. It penetrates deeply into your skin to stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin while hydrating it. You will see an overall improvement across your whole face instead of just having specific areas looking smoother and plumper with the use of dermal fillers.

Profhilo Procedure

To start with, your face will be thoroughly cleaned using disinfectant and injection sites marked on your skin. There are five key target areas on either side of your face:

  1. On top of the cheeks
  2. Under the eyes
  3. On the chin
  4. Laugh lines
  5. The area next to the ears.

It is a quick, efficient and almost painless procedure. You may feel a stinging sensation as the hyaluronic acid penetrates your skin but it will only last a few seconds. The whole process only takes about 20 minutes so you can go about your daily activities as soon as you leave the clinic.

Profhilo Safety

Profhilo is very safe as it is a non-surgical treatment but there are some possible side affects you should know about, such as:

  • Bruising. Rarely some people can have bruising at site of the injection and this may be because the needle pierces a blood vessel. While it may not look good, the bruising will subside on its own.
  • Swelling and redness. It is normal for there to be some slight swelling and redness around the injection site and it will subside in a few days.
  • Discomfort and itching. Discomfort or itching at the injection site is usually mild and disappears in a few days.
  • Allergic reaction. In very rare cases, some people experience an allergic reaction to hyaluronic acid. This may cause itching, swelling and redness. Make sure you seek medical attention if you experience these symptoms.
  • Infection. As with any injectable treatment, there is a small risk of infection which is why it is important to receive treatment in a sterile environment from a qualified and experienced professional.

What can I expect from using Profhilo?

Profhilo injections have a slow release mechanism and release a small amount of hyaluronic acid for up to a month, but it will take some time to see the results. You usually need two treatments, with the second treatment between four and six weeks after the first one. You should start seeing results within 24 to 48 hours after your second treatment.

Its lasts for up to six months before you need a maintenance treatment.
